Where is the Watchman Trail?

The Watchman Trail is easy to find; it starts from the Visitor Center area. No need to take a shuttle bus. Use this trailhead address:
Zion National Park Visitor Center 1 Zion Park Blvd, Springdale, UT 84767

Gear For the Hike

This is a short hike; you need no special gear to complete it. However, you're best served by wearing fitness or light hiking clothing with comfortable footwear like trail runners. Also, bring at least 0.5L of water; it can get hot during the day, and you'll probably sweat a bit on the climb.

Gear That I Love Right Now

Nothing is sponsored or promoted, just the actual gear that I use.

Gear Inreach Mini 2
Garmin InReach Mini 2If you are out of cellphone range the Mini 2 will reliably allow you to hit SOS via satellite. You can see my review here.
Gear Hoka Speedgoat 5
HOKA Speedgoat 5These are a great balance of comfort and performance. The high stack height leaves my feet feeling great after a hike.

The beginning is flat, but we soon climb along a canyon to the viewpoint loop at the top. You'll feel the climb, but it's not too long or as challenging as the climb to Scout Lookout.

The trail climbs to a small plateau several hundred feet high, where you then hike a small loop to the viewpoint. The Watchman looms above to the south as you hike.

Hi, I'm Cris Hazzard, aka Hiking Guy, a professional outdoors guide, hiking expert, and author based in Southern California. I created this website to share all the great hikes I do with everyone else out there. This site is different because it gives detailed directions that even the beginning hiker can follow. I also share what hiking gear works and doesn't so you don't waste money. I don't do sponsored or promoted content; I share only the gear recommendations, hikes, and tips that I would with my family and friends. If you like the website and YouTube channel, please support these free guides (I couldn't do it without folks like you!).
